There has been much talk about Jenson joining Lewis, that would be pretty awesome, it would create an unbeatable British dream team, capable of a one two finish for 2010 with as many finishes on the podium. MacLaren would cetainly finish as the top constructor.
Graham Hill said he had been at BRM for so long that in the winter, the team would spray him dark geen and store him in a corner at the factory. At the end of 1966 he switched camps to join Jim Clark at Lotus (then still British owned as opposed to now Malaysian owned). In todays terms its Lewis Hamilton quiting Mac Laren and joining Ferari. It would create realignment of how we worshipped our heroes.
In the end of 2009 we prepare for the juggling that will lead us to the new drivers and the new teams. If we accept accept that Nico Rosber is off to Brawn alongside Jenson Button, then Barichello could be just the man for the job. He won at Valencia and Monza, his chasis set up skills and years of experience will make him a great asset to any F1 team. Out of his 11 wins 9 were beside the mighty Schumacher. Just 12 months ago Barichello probably though his career was over, now he find himself re inventing one of the most famous teams in F1 history that is F1. I guess this what makes F1 so interesting. It is good to know that Jenson Button will be staying on in Brawn for the 2010 seasson. Whether he can keep the title will left to be seen.
Its a brave move JB,you obviously have your reasons and I can’t see it being just about money. Anyway it will make for a very interesting season. Two English World champions in the same team. Good luck to you both.
Sorry I should add to my post, examples that ended in tears!!
I dont think it would work. Its is very rare that you can have two World class drivers in a team and for it to work well. Senna/Prost, Mansell/Piquet, Hamilton/Alonso are just a few examples. Jenson did well this season hats off to him, but the Mclaren was useless for the first half of the season and the championship was won then. It would be a brave man to take on and beat Hamilton in the same car AT McLAREN. Stick with what and who you know Jenson. Do you want another championship or do you want another couple of million in the bank? What will you be remembered for, what is really important in your career?
I can’t see an issue with them being part of the same team at McLaren. Ok Jenson will likely play second fiddle to Lewis but I am confident that in a good car Jenson can really perform well. 2009 was the first time (maybe ever) Jenson had been driving potentially a championship winning car, and guess what he won the season!
Good Luck FOR 2010 JB
Jensen, remember what happened to Fernando Alonso (F1 Champion). Go to MacLaren and expect the same. Second fiddle to Hamilton.
